Founded in 2004 by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel, ROBLOX Corporation launched its eponymous platform, ROBLOX, in 2006 as an innovative online game creation system. Over the years, it has grown into one of the largest virtual experiences in the world, with a vibrant ecosystem of developers, creators, and players. Built using the proprietary Roblox Studio and powered by the Lua programming language, the platform enables users to create, share, and monetize their own games. With a blocky, Lego-like aesthetic and a free-to-play model supported by the in-game currency Robux, ROBLOX has become a global phenomenon. However, its rapid expansion has also brought challenges, including scrutiny over monetization practices, child safety concerns, and content moderation.
In this committee, delegates will represent ROBLOX Corp. executives, massive financial institutions, and content creators, such as CaseOh and Druski. Members of this committee will make critical decisions on platform expansion, regulatory compliance, developer relations, and monetization strategies. The committee will operate under a Crisis Rules of Procedure format, allowing for dynamic discussions and real-time decision-making in response to evolving challenges. While position papers are not mandatory, they are required for award consideration. Delegates must be prepared to navigate high-stakes corporate strategy, balancing innovation with responsibility as they shape the future of ROBLOX.
